10 Compelling Reasons Why You Should Switch to a Hybrid Car

Do you care about the environment and want to save this planet? Do you believe that gasoline guzzling cars are one of the several causes for the current state of our planet? If environment friendly, non-polluting transport is your thing, then a hybrid car is the way to go. Not only is a hybrid car a compelling statement that says 'I care', but its compact size and fuel efficiency have some great benefits too.

If you are still sitting on the fence regarding hybrid cars though, here are a few reasons why you might want to switch:

1. Hybrid cars are small in size and made of lightweight materials. Their engines are specifically designed for fuel efficiency. For instance, when a hybrid car comes to a halt at a signal, the engine shuts down automatically and restarts as soon as the car shifts into gear. This is ideal for the stop-go city traffic which can guzzle fuel by the gallons very quickly.

2. Hybrid cars have the dual advantage of a gasoline engine alongside an electric motor. The gasoline engine takes care of the power, the electric motor of the acceleration.

3. Hybrid cars are easy to recharge; they can recharge automatically by harnessing the energy produced when the car's brakes are applied. This kind of energy is called 'kinetic energy'.

4. Hybrid cars seldom go idle. They also produce less emission along with giving you superior mileage.

5. Hybrid cars have a high capacity, high quality battery that is made of nickel-metal-hydride. If required, the car can run completely on this battery.

6. Their lightweight construction and aerodynamic design helps reduce drag. The tires used in hybrid cars are usually made of a special rubber that helps reduce friction. This translates into a more nimble, fuel efficient car.

7. Hybrid cars have a special power-train technology that allows it to use two power sources at the same time (gasoline, and electricity) that further enhances fuel efficiency.

8. Hybrid cars are manufactured by some of the top car manufacturers: Honda, Toyota, Ford, and GM. Thus, you have a wide range of choice available to you.

9. Hybrid owners get special tax benefits, courtesy of the United States government. Think of it as the government's way of saying 'thanks' when you say 'I care'.

10. Lastly, if you drive a hybrid car, it shows that you care about the environment and the effect you have on it. In a small way, you are contributing to making our environment a little bit cleaner and greener.

But we can go on and on about the benefits of a hybrid car. A far better advice would be to head to your nearest dealership and test drive one to lend a helping hand to our fragile environment.
